DESCRIPTION:Mikael De La Salle: L'exposé tournera autour de l'histoire fas
 cinante d'une question fondamentale de la théorie des algèbres d'opérat
 eurs\, posée par Alain Connes en 1976 : "Une algèbre de von Neumann fini
 e se plonge-t-elle dans un ultraproduit d'algèbres de matrices ?" J'expli
 querai ce que cela peut bien vouloir dire\, comment ce problème a étonna
 mment été relié à des questions sur les fondements de la mécanique qu
 antique\, et enfin comment une solution basée sur la calculabilité a ét
 é très récemment proposée.\nvon Neumann algebras\, quantum correlation
 s and computability\nThe talk will revolve around the fascinating history 
 of a fundamental question in the theory of operator algebras\, posed by Al
 ain Connes in 1976: "Does a finite von Neumann algebra dive into an ultrap
 roduct of matrix algebras?" I will explain what this might mean\, how this
  problem has surprisingly been connected to questions about the foundation
 s of quantum mechanics\, and finally how a solution based on computability
