SUMMARY:Víctor M. Ortega Jiménez (SCBE\, Georgia Institute of Technology\
, Atlanta\, GA): Animals flying through waterfalls and other multiphase fl
ows - Víctor M. Ortega Jiménez
DESCRIPTION:Víctor M. Ortega Jiménez: In nature\, animals are commonly ch
allenged to move through complex flows composed ofliquids\, gases and soli
ds. However\, our understanding of multiphase flow dynamics and their effe
ct onanimal’s locomotion is still limited. In this talk\, I will review
recent findings on animal’s responseswhile moving through waterfalls\, r
ainfall\, and bubbling water surfaces\, as well as the biologicalimplicati
ons. Finally\, I will discuss animals’ capacity to autogenerate two-phas
e flows\, such as theknifefish that can produce cavitation bubbles during
 suction.\n&nbsp\;\n\nAbstract pdf sem-iossb-2020-Summary_AIFIT_seminarDec9
