DESCRIPTION:: Let G be a connected reductive group defined over a non-archi
 medean local field k and let R(G(k)) be the category of smooth representat
 ions of G(k). The Bernstein center is the center of the abelian category R
 (G(k)). I will review some basic results of the theory of Bernstein center
 . I will then talk about Jiu-Kang Yu's construction of "tame" supercuspida
 l representations. Finally I will present my result about the centers of t
