DESCRIPTION:Christophe Pittet: Applying Hironaka resolution of singularitie
 s\, Gromov proved in 1982 that all characteristic classes of algebraic gro
 ups defined over the reals are bounded. We propose a more down-to-earth ap
 proach of this result. With the help of the stable commutator norm\, we ch
 aracterize Lie groups with all characteristic classes bounded. This is joi
 ned work with Chatterji\, Cornulier\, Mislin.\n\n\n
