DESCRIPTION:Sergio Cia: Abstract : During this talk\, we will talk about b
 raids. See you on Thursday.\n\n\n\n\nOk\, I will explain a bit more: gener
 ally defined as interlaced hair strands\, or threads\, or other intertwine
 d stuff\; they can be studied as a mathematical object\, which makes them 
 even more cool\, stylish and awesome! :D\n\nIn this talk\, we will start b
 y giving a geometric\, intuitive definition of braids. Then\, we will give
  a topological definition\, as well as a presentation of them as an abstra
 ct group. Finally\, if time permits\, we will relate these definitions of 
 braid groups with finite symmetric groups\, and give some applications in
   mathematics (knot theory) and (particle) physics.\n\n\n
