DESCRIPTION:: The weak Whitney regularity for stratifications\, introduced 
 by Karim Bekka and the speaker\, implies local topological triviality and 
 is implied by Whitney regularity. While strictly weaker than Whitney regul
 arity in the real algebraic case\, its status vis à vis Whitney regularit
 y is unknown in the complex analytic case.\nWe describe work with Duco van
  Straten showing that weak Whitney regularity implies equimultiplicity for
  complex hypersurface families\, generalising theorems of Hironaka\, and B
 riançon and Speder.
