DESCRIPTION:Kévin Perrot: Sandpile models are a subclass of cellular autom
 ata. Bak et al. introduced them in 1987 for they exemplify the nicely name
 d notion of "self-organized criticality". Those non-linear discrete dynami
 cal systems illustrate the evolution of cubic sand grains from nicely pack
 ed columns to nicely packed columns. A simple local rule is applied until 
 reaching a stable configuration... It all looks very easy so far\, but we 
 will see that wonderful (and mysterious!) objects naturally appear. What c
 an we understand about them? We will see some results on the emergence of 
 regularities in one-dimensional sandpile models (joint work with Eric Rém
