DESCRIPTION:Jakub Konieczny: Generalised polynomials are expressions constr
 ucted from polynomials with the use of the floor function\, addition and m
 ultiplication\, such as\n[√2 𝑛 [√3 𝑛2] + √6 𝑛 + 1/2].\nDesp
 ite superficial similarity\, generalised polynomials exhibit many phenomen
 a which are impossible for ordinary polynomials. In particular\, there exi
 st generalised polynomial sequences which take only finitely many values b
 ut are not constant. This is the case\, for instance\, for Sturmian sequen
 ces.\nIn my talk\, I will discuss such finitely-valued generalised polynom
 ial sequences\, their connection with nilpotent dynamics\, estimates on th
 eir subword complexity\, constructions of potentially surprising examples\
 , as well as problems concerning decidability.\nThe talk will include a su
 rvey of existing results on generalised polynomials\, adapted to the curre
 nt context\, as well as several new results obtained in joint works with B
