SUMMARY: (...): From stellar systems equilibria to collisionless statistics
DESCRIPTION:: I present the methods originally employed in [1] to derive st
 atistical properties of light distribution in galaxies\, before discussing
  their application in other physical systems. The methods in question invo
 lve the derivation of maximal entropy distributions using phase space coar
 se-graining arguments which find use in collective descriptions of many-bo
