 f-Coste (Cornell University\, USA)\nThe aim of this two-weeks school is to
  review basics about geometric group theory and random walks. It is target
 ed at graduate students and postdocs.\nThis school is part of the IHP trim
 ester on random walks and asymptotic geometry of groups (January 6 - April
  4\, 2014).\nThe trimester is devoted to asymptotic properties of infinite
  and big finite groups\, in particular\, those associated with random walk
 s on these groups. We hope to have a fruitful collaboration covering proba
 bilistic\, analytic\, algebraic\, and geometrical aspects of this subject 
 area as well as their interplay. The non-exhaustive list of topics we are 
 planning to discuss includes:\n- isoperimetric\, growth and spectral profi
 les\n- amenability and property (T)\n- asymptotics and limit theorems for 
 transition probabilities\n- rate of escape and entropy\n- boundary actions
 \n- the Poisson boundary\n- spaces of harmonic functions\n- equidistributi
 on and characterization of invariant sets and measures\nrigidity\n- groups
  acting on trees.\n\n&nbsp\;
