SUMMARY: (...): Hybrid discontinuous Galerkin methods for convection-diffus
 ion equations
DESCRIPTION:: The goal of this seminar is to introduce the 'Hybridizable Di
 scontinuous Galerkin' method (HDG)\, a relatively novel numerical method f
 or PDEs. The method gained popularity after 2009 and has been in constant 
 developement since. It offers the sought after features of Discontinuous G
 alerkin (DG) methods\, while being more computationally efficient. The met
 hod will be applied to 1D advection-diffusion equations and some simulatio
 ns will be shown.\n\nThe seminar will be be split into three sections:\n\n
 (i) an introduction to Continuous Galerkin (CG) methods\n\n(ii) an introdu
 ction to DG methods\n\n(iii) the HDG method as applied to a 1D convection-
 diffusion equation.
