DESCRIPTION:: While kinetic equations of the Vlasov type are commonly and s
 uccessfully used in physics\, their microscopic derivation is still a larg
 ely open problem. In recent years\, great progress has been made in provin
 g mean field limits for singular forces\, in particular due to the works o
 f Hauray and Jabin. In the light of these developments\, we present a nove
 l method for deriving mean field equations that is designed for stochastic
  initial conditions. We apply it to provide a particle approximation of th
 e Vlasov-Poisson and Vlasov-Maxwell dynamics as a combined mean field and 
 point-particle limit of extended charges with N-dependent radius.
