SUMMARY:Judith Miller (Georgetown University): Models of adaptive evolution
  in invasive species
DESCRIPTION:Judith Miller: We present two models of the evolution of a quan
 titative trait in a\nspatial selective gradient\, extending the seminal mo
 dels of Kirkpatrick/\nBarton (1997) and Case/Taper (2000). In both models\
 , trait variance is\nallowed to evolve freely. One model harmonizes the se
 emingly\ncontradictory findings between those two works and Barton (2000).
  The\nother model introduces matching habitat choice as a factor influenci
 ng\ndispersal. We focus on numerical results and highlight the biological\
 nimplications of these results. (Joint work with Farshad Shirani)&gt\;
