 odels for embryonic tissue growth: incompressible limit and qualitative be
 haviour
DESCRIPTION:Michèle Romanos: In this talk\, we introduce two 2D mechanical
  models reproducing the\nevolution of two embryonic viscous tissues in con
 tact. Their main\nproperty is to model the swirling cell motions while kee
 ping the tissues\nsegregated\, as observed during vertebrate embryo elonga
 tion.  The\ndifference in these models is how segregation is encoded: eit
 her by\npassive or active segregation (based on a mechanical repulsion\npr
 essure).\nWe first explore the models numerically then we compute their\ni
 ncompressible limits and obtain strictly segregated solutions. We\ncompare
  their qualitative behaviour at the limit and observe the\npersistence of 
 the repulsion pressure in the active segregation model: a\nghost effect is
  discussed and confronted to the biological data.\nFinally\, thanks to a t
 ransmission problem formulation\, we show the\nexistence of a pressure jum
 p at the tissues' boundaries.\nThis work was done in collaboration with Pi
 erre Degond\, Sophie Hecht\,\nand Ariane Trescases.
