DESCRIPTION:Pedro Antunes: In this talk we give an overview of the applicat
 ion of the Method of Fundamental Solutions (MFS) for solving boundary valu
 e problems with elliptic PDE’s. The MFS is a meshfree numerical method f
 or which the solution is approximated by a linear combination of shifts of
  the fundamental solution of the elliptic differential operator. We presen
 t a theoretical framework providing density results and bounds for the err
 or that justify the convergence of the method. Finally\, we describe the a
 pplication of the MFS for solving some shape optimization problems for eig
 envalues\, such as the classical Laplacian eigenvalue problem\, Steklov ei
 genvalue problems or problems arising from musical acoustics.\n&nbsp\;
