 , we will try to illustrate estimation precision characterization techniqu
 es for two applications of polarimetric measuments. The first one concerns
  optical microscopy polarimetry with second order nonlinearities. The goal
  consists in estimating structural parameters of the distribution of colla
 gen molecules. With the second applications\, the estimation of the biomas
 s vegetation is estimated with polarimetric interferometric radar systems 
 in order to cover large areas. We will essentially show with these simple 
 examples how the Cramer-Rao bound allows one to characterize precisely and
  to optimize measurement systems. We will also discuss the use of invarian
 ce properties in order to simplify the analysis.
