DESCRIPTION:Florian Thiry: The presentation will be structured around the A tiyah-Singer index theorem. We will begin by discussing the concept of the index of Fredholm operators in general\, followed by some of its basic pr operties. Then\, we will take an algebraic detour to introduce K-theory an d its framework for calculating the index.
