DESCRIPTION:Yifei Zhao: In 2001\, Brylinski and Deligne classified central 
 extensions\nof a reductive group by K_2 and posed one question: How does T
 ate's\ndeterminant extension fit into this picture? In this talk\, I will\
 nexplain an answer to their question. It proceeds by enlarging the\ncatego
 ry of central extensions by K_2 and proving that this\nenlargement satisfi
 es the expected classification and incorporates\nTate's extension naturall
 y.
