  and Gaussian concentration bounds for random fields
DESCRIPTION:Sandro GALLO: The study of concentration inequalities focuses o
 n upper bounds\nfor the probability that certain statistics of (fixed-size
 ) random samples\ndeviate significantly from their mean (or median).\nFor 
 i.i.d. samples\, what we refer to as a "Gaussian concentration bound"\nis 
 a specific case of a concentration inequality\,\ncommonly known in the lit
 erature as McDiarmid’s inequality.\nMore broadly\, such bounds are expec
 ted to hold for well-behaved statistics\n(e.g.\, Lipschitz continuous func
 tions)\nand for samples of weakly dependent random variables.\nIn this tal
 k I will relate the occurrence of such bounds\nto the concept of finitary 
 coding (or factor) coming from dynamical systems.\nAs a consequence\, I wi
 ll present recent results\nestablishing Gaussian concentration bounds\nfor
  a wide class of random fields on $\\mathbb{Z}^d$\,\nin particular the Isi
 ng model above the critical\ntemperature in any dimension.\n\nThis present
 ation is based on joint work with\nJean-René Chazottes (CNRS & École Pol
 ytechnique\, Palaiseau)\nand Daniel Y. Takahashi (Instituto do Cérebro\, 
 UFRN\, Brazil).
