SUMMARY:Hiroki Kato (IHES): Bernstein—Sato theory in positive characteris
 tic and Frobenius invariant nearby cycles
DESCRIPTION:Hiroki Kato: I will talk about how to formulate (and outline a
 n idea of a proof of) a positive characteristic analogue of the theorem of
  Kashiwara and Malgrange about the relationship\, in characteristic zero\,
  between the Bernstein-Sato polynomial and the eigenvalues of the monodrom
 y action on nearby cycles. It will give a cohomological explanation for so
 me of the arithmetic phenomena in the Bernstein—Sato theory in positive 
 characteristic. This is a joint work in progress with Eamon Quinlan and Da
 ichi Takeuchi.
