Mathilde Guillaud, « Beyond freeze-out: phenomenology of hidden sector Dark Matter models »

The nature of Dark Matter (DM) remains to this day one of the biggest mysteries of our Universe. Though, Weakly Interacting Particles (WIMPs) have become one of the most popular theories for Dark Matter. In this model, the DM candidate is a Dirac fermion that couples to the Standard Model (SM) via a light pseudoscalar Axion-Like Particle (ALP), in a DFSZ-like model.
Experiments and astrophysical constraints provided quite stringent bounds on the parameter space (masses and couplings) and the standard production process, i.e. freeze-out might not be enough to get the observed relic density. Freeze-in and sequential freeze-in have thus gained popularity and the latter will be the focus of this report. The procedure to treat this process is adapted from a paper by Belanger et. al. (2020), which considers a similar model with a scalar mediator.

Yohann Lebouazda, « Self-consistent stationary equilibrium of a chaotic system: Application to a collisionless plasma in toroidal geometry »

We study the collective dynamics of a collisionless plasma contained in a torus, which is subjected to an exterior magnetic field generated by a coil curled up on its surface. The Hamiltonian framework is used to describe the dynamical context, which is in turn completed by a maximal entropy principle in order to couple this aspect to statistical elements of the system through the Maxwell-Vlasov formalism. The outcome is a self-consistent problem, which might find applications in the understanding of chaos’ role in plasma confinement and tokamak Physics.
