Let H be a closed subgroup of a p-adic reductive group G. A representation of G is called H-distigushed if it admits a non-zero H-invariant linear form.
Examples indicate that distinguished representations are related with Langlands functoriality, The classification of the distinguished admissible dual of G seems to be out of reach with existing tools.
I will present a classification of distinguished representations of G=GL(n) (with respect to various subgroups H) within the class of ladder representations recently introduced by Lapid and Minguez.
