Le concept a été introduit pour la première fois par Jean-Marie Souriau dans les années 1980 et développé d’abord par ses étudiants Paul Donato (espaces et revêtements homogènes) et Patrick Iglesias (faisceaux de fibres difféologiques, homotopie plus élevée, etc.), puis par d’autres personnes. Une idée similaire a été introduite par Kuo-Tsaï Chen (陳 國 才, Chen Guocai) dans les années 1970, utilisant des ensembles convexes au lieu d’ensembles ouverts pour les domaines des parcelles.
In mathematics, a diffeology on a set declares what the smooth parametrizations in the set are. In some sense a diffeology generalizes the concept of smooth charts in a differentiable manifold.
The concept was first introduced by Jean-Marie Souriau in the 1980s and developed first by his students Paul Donato (homogeneous spaces and coverings) and Patrick Iglesias (diffeological fiber bundles, higher homotopy, etc.), later by other people.
