Let $\zeta$ be a primitive aperiodic substitution on $d$ symbols. We consider the corresponding automorphism ($Z$-action), which is known to be uniquely ergodic, and investigate its spectral properties.
After surveying known results, I will discuss recent joint work with A. I. Bufetov, where we obtain a new sufficient condition for pure singular spectrum, using a construction of « spectral cocycle ».
