Shock-droplet interaction via a new weakly hyperbolic phase-field model

A new weakly hyperbolic model for interface problems with capillary effects in compressible fluids is presented. This new model is in agreement with physical principles of conservation and respects the second law of thermodynamics. The model is tested and validated through experiments on droplet breakup induced by a shock wave.
