The main objective of this thematic trimester is to bring together physicists and mathematicians with different background (including physics of plasmas and fluids, turbulence and transport, scientific computing, multiscale analysis etc.) to discuss some of the outstanding open issues in theoretical and computational ITER-related physics.

Preliminary program:

The activities of this trimester will be shared between a series of weekly seminars and lectures for graduate students together with an international conference and seven mini-workshops on specialized topics. Potential attendants are encouraged to apply for longer stays to stimulate collaborations.

The seven mini-workshops will be focused on:

• High performance computing in plasma physics and fluid dynamics
• Lagrangian transport in plasma and fluid turbulence
• Hamiltonian models of the Maxwell-Vlasov system
• Long-range interactions in Hamiltonian systems
• Gyrokinetic theory and simulations in fusion plasmas
• Zonal flows and anisotropic turbulence
• Dynamos from numerical and experimental point of view
