A surface with canonical map of degree 32

It is known since the seminal paper of Beauville (1979) that the canonical map of a surface of general type is, if finite, of degree at most 36. Only recently have appeared examples with degree > 16. In this talk I will describe the construction of an example with degree 32 and explain its relation to Schoen surfaces.
