The MEB seminar is the continuation of the MEG seminar, which was the joint seminar of the “Méthodes Mathématiques pour la Génomique” (MMG) team of the ex-IML and the “Évolution Biologique et Modélisation” (EBM) team of the ex-LATP. When I2M was created, the two teams were merged to form the MEB (Mathématiques, Évolution, Biologie) team.
The MEB team is multi-disciplinary, both in its themes and in its composition. It includes mathematicians, computer scientists and biologists, working together on the modeling and study of biological phenomena, particularly those linked to evolution. Like the team, the seminar invites speakers from a wide range of disciplines. The presentations are intended to attract a wider audience than just team members, or even the I2M itself.
The SEM seminar covers both the modeling of biological phenomena and the processing of their data. The main theme of the seminar is biological evolution, but any presentation relating to one of the team’s axes, or more generally to interactions between mathematics and biology, is naturally welcome.
The areas covered are mainly :
– biological evolution,
– probability and statistics,
– algorithms,
– population genetics.
