Modular forms and special values of L-functions

In this talk I will present through examples the rich interplay between the theory of modular forms (complex analytic, algebaric, p-adic) and special values of L-functions (analytic and p-adic) starting from results of Siegel and Serre on Bernoulli numbers using Eisenstein series.
