Order problem for indeterminate Jacobi matrices and Valent conjectures

We survey recent results on the problem of order for canonical systems with a particularemphasis on the indeterminate moment problems. In this way, we establish the validityof two conjectures of Valent about the order of Jacobi matrices with power coefficients,provide examples showing that a lower order estimate due to M. Livshits may differ fromthe actual order, and prove a formula for the order for diagonal canonical systems (Kreinstrings).
