Abstract: In this talk, I will explore the modern singularity theorems, celebrated as one of the most significant theoretical breakthroughs in General Relativity and Lorentzian geometry. I will begin by defining the concept of spacetime singularities and then delve into the groundbreaking result of trapped surfaces. Along the way, I will highlight essential insights, discuss open questions, and showcase specific applications of the theorems in cosmological and black-hole spacetimes.
