In this talk, we examine principally polarized superspecial abelian surfaces over finite fields through their corresponding refined Humbert invariants. We show that computing this invariant is computationally equivalent to solving the isogeny problem for supersingular elliptic curves, providing a geometric characterization. As applications, we show isogeny-degree analysis of elliptic curves and the splitting behavior of isogeny graphs of principally polarized superspecial abelian surfaces.
