In the past 8 years we have developed and maintained the ReMap database which consists in the large scale integration of ChIP-seq data. Using a similar approach, we are investigating whether such large scale integration could help identify the activity of regulatory regions. By investigating almost a thousand of RNA Polymerase 2 ChIP-seq datasets we observe a landscape of intergenic active regulatory regions binding RNA Pol2. To address whether these RNA Polymerase 2 initiate transcription at such intergenic regions, we processed the 11,000 TCGA gene expression individuals. We observe cancer specific non-coding transcription, which are still being studied, as this is an on-going project.
