We present two models of the evolution of a quantitative trait in a
spatial selective gradient, extending the seminal models of Kirkpatrick/
Barton (1997) and Case/Taper (2000). In both models, trait variance is
allowed to evolve freely. One model harmonizes the seemingly
contradictory findings between those two works and Barton (2000). The
other model introduces matching habitat choice as a factor influencing
dispersal. We focus on numerical results and highlight the biological
implications of these results. (Joint work with Farshad Shirani)>
