In the setting of symbolic dynamics on groups, we introduce the totally extremally permutive (TEP) subshifts, a class of subshifts finite type defined by a family of allowed patterns of the same shape such that, given the contents of all cells except a corner, exactly one symbol is allowed in the corner cell. On acting groups admitting a nice enough notion of “corner”, the TEP subshifts share some niceness properties with algebraic subshifts, namely they have decidable languages and admit an analog of the Haar measure.
