The goal of this program is to introduce students to modern mathematical research, with a view towards mostly "pure" mathematics. The curriculum is fairly broad within this area during the first semester, which includes four courses offering a strong background for the study of more advanced topics. The focus becomes more specialised in the second semester, during which there are two short advanced courses complemented by reading seminars. The main part of this semester is the master's thesis which can be done in Marseille or in another university.
For the academic year 2026-2027 the curriculum is as follows.First semester courses
- Riemann Surfaces (Adrien Boulanger)
- Algebraic topology (Dimitri Ara, Christine Vespa)
- Commutative algebra and algebraic geometry (Liana Heuberger, Frédéric Mangolte)
- Representations of compact groups (Daniel Disegni, Joaquin Jacinto Rodrigues)
Second semester courses
- Introduction to (co)homologies: spaces and groups (Christine Vespa)
- Introduction to simplicial sets: towards homotopy theory (Dimitri Ara)
