The purpose of this talk is to present a new perspective on the so-called
Brydges–Fröhlich–Spencer random walk (BFS random walk). This allows us to
write correlation functions in the XY model in a simple way. The new
perspective leads to a simple framework making it easy to manipulate the
random walks. The framework allows us to prove several results on the
two-dimensional square lattice which will be broadly discussed.
