Abstract : I will attempt an introduction to some central ideas of modern number theory, starting with familiar objects such as prime numbers. It will show how these seemingly irregular and unpredictable objects actually obey profound laws, revealed through tools from analysis. The aim is not to delve into technical details, but to provide a clear and intuitive overview of the major questions in the field, extending to open problems such as the Riemann Hypothesis. No prior knowledge of number theory is required: the emphasis will be on ideas, intuitions, and connections with other areas of mathematics and (maybe) physics.
